The Pitchfork Review’s Festival Tour Bus

The Pitchfork Review approached Stevie Gee to bring the "joy of the journey" to a music festival to life for their latest festival themed magazine cover.

They bought an old 1970s bus to promote the launch of this issue at the Pitchfork music festival in Chicago which will be attended by thousands of people. When Stevie was sent the images of the bus he wanted to keep the vintage aesthetic and so sketched up the below ideas suggesting that his illustrations be painted straight onto the metalwork and to use the windows to give the illusion of the characters riding on the bus.

Chicago sign painter and artist Shelby Rodeffer then painted Stevie's designs onto the bus. The final image was captured by photographer Lucy Hewett for the cover of the magazine.
