Illustrator Jay Daniel Wright makes bold and colourful work full of fun and sometimes slightly shifty characters, perfectly fusing the comic and the classic to create his precise, distinctive style.
Jay’s previous life as a carpenter has left him with a meticulousness that means he is never far away from a pencil and ruler, which he uses in the early stages of all of his work. It also allows him to transport his ideas into the 3D world in the form of painted wooden models and sculptures. Jay also likes to keep up with the idioms of the English language via his Instagram alter ego ‘Idiom Ed – the Ideogram Head’.
